Outreach in the Reiskind Lab
Service and outreach is an important part of how science functions in society. We take our civic responsibility, as scientists, very seriously in the Reiskind lab. We work on basic research on species of tremendous public health importance, and endeavor to communicate our science to the public and government agency responsible for protecting the well-being of all Americans. We are always looking for more opportunities to interact with people, and participate in local events through the North Carolina Natural History Museum. We are active in the North Carolina Entomological Society and the national Entomological Society of America. Dr. Reiskind just completed a three-year stint on the editorial review board of the Journal of Medical Entomology. We also are committed to serving as reviewers in the peer-review process of both journal articles and grant applications, fulfilling our professional service duties.
